A wife and mother of four young children, Anita is also a prolific writer who is committed to encouraging other moms. “My heart goes out to every mom in America. We lead very busy, complex lives today. We need to encourage one another and every mom needs to know that she is not alone.” In January of 2005, Anita launched Keeping Family First online magazine, which serves as an online community of moms and dads. Keeping Family First contributors are from all over the U.S., and write on topics ranging from fitness, health, parenting, business, fashion, home organization, finance and more. The magazine offers hundreds of resources and features new authors and exclusive celebrity interviews. In September of 2005, Keeping Family First for Dads was launched.
Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, Anita earned both a bachelors degree in political science and a masters degree in public policy from the University of Michigan. She worked for over ten years in the field of community development—managing and marketing programs, and procuring millions of dollars for family and youth-serving organizations in the city of Detroit. Anita's editorials have been published in The Detroit News. She's been featured in Metro Parent's African American Family Magazine, the Urban League's Urban Influence Magazine, and as a guest on numerous radio talk shows, including WWJC in Duluth, Minessota, WCHB in Detroit, and WJSS in Baltimore, Maryland.
