Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, Anita earned both a bachelors degree in political science and a masters degree in public policy from the University of Michigan.  She worked for over ten years in the field of community development—managing and marketing programs, and procuring millions of dollars for family and youth-serving organizations in the city of Detroit.

A devoted Christian, Anita was licensed to the ministry at the young age of 25.   Today, her primary ministry is to the “family”— hers and others’ as well.  In a warm, down-to-earth and often humorous fashion, Anita writes and speaks on the topic of motherhood, as well as societal and policy issues that affect today's families.

Anita's editorials have been published in The Detroit News. She's been featured in Metro Parent's African American Family Magazine, the Urban League's Urban Influence Magazine, and as a guest on numerous radio talk shows, including WWJC in Duluth, Minessota, WCHB in Detroit, and WJSS in Baltimore, Maryland.

Anita authors a column for moms at http://www.justformom.com. She is a regular contributor to Hope for Women Magazine, and a published author within the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul® series. Her first book, Lessons My Toddler Taught Me: A Devotional for Mothers of Young Children was released in March of 2007. Anita resides in Grosse Pointe, Michigan with her husband and four young children.
